Meet Jennifer
Hello! I'm Jennifer Stephenson, LCSW.

I'm glad you're here! I specialize in doing work with complex trauma and dissociation, especially for neurodiverse folks. As a therapist based in Austin, TX, I've seen a lot of different ways that trauma can impact mental health. Whether you're an intense perfectionist, stuck in people-pleasing cycles, dealing with harsh internal conflict, or not even sure how you feel, you have a place here at Geode Psychotherapy.

Important Information
What kind of therapy do
you provide?
With most of my clients, I practice parts work as a blend of Internal Family Systems and Ego State Therapy. I also like to incorporate aspects of Dialectical Behavior Therapy to provide usable skills where needed.
However, if there's anything specific that you have questions about, let me know! I'm collaborative and care more about finding what works for you more than adhering to a particular modality.
What is your style?
I try to be as collaborative and client-centered as possible. You're the expert on your life, and I have skills and knowledge to help guide you on your path. I describe my approach as relational, curious, and empathetic.
I connect genuinely with my clients and show up as another person that gets the struggle!
FAQs
Your Questions Answered
What kind of clients do you see?
I work with adults (18+) in Texas with a wide variety of concerns. Most of my clients have Autism, ADHD, dissociative disorders, and/or complex trauma from childhood. I've also done a lot of work with those experiencing difficult life transitions, work stress, perfectionism, and people pleasing. I'm also proud to have provided support to many LGBTQIA clients, immigrants, and many cultural backgrounds.
Wondering if I'm experienced with your particular concerns? Feel free to reach out and schedule a consult call!
How long are the therapy sessions?
Typical therapy sessions last 50 minutes. However, longer sessions are available by request if useful to treatment goals. As an example, clients with intense dissociation or processing trauma might find longer sessions useful to explore symptoms more in depth.
How often should I attend therapy?
This depends on your personal goals and what work you're interested in doing! For those looking to pursue trauma therapy, meeting weekly is ideal for making consistent progress. However, meeting weekly is not feasible or necessary for everyone, and we can talk together to make sure we find a frequency that fits your needs.
